Kyra Simone is a writer from Los Angeles, now based in Brooklyn. She is the author of the story collection Palace of Rubble, and her fiction and poetry have appeared in a variety of literary journals, including American Chordata, The Baffler, The Brooklyn Rail, BOMB, Conjunctions, LEAN Magazine, The Anthology of Best American Experimental Writing, and elsewhere. Winner of the 2022 ILS/Fence Magazine Fiction Contest, Simone is a recipient of fellowships at the Summer Literary Seminars in Tbilisi, Georgia and Nairobi, Kenya, and has been a recent finalist for the Tom La Farge Award for Innovative Writing, as well as the American Short(er) Fiction Prize. She is a member of the publishing collective Ugly Duckling Presse and part of a two-woman team running the editorial office of Zone Books. She is at work on a novel.
